Domestic Distractions/Abstractions
The photographs in this slideshow were recently on display at PERKOLATOR, in Chicago. All of them were made at home, and all of them are of little things I found in kitchen drawers, the sewing box, the workbench, some neglected corner or on a shelf in the house. I call them Domestic Distractions because they were made when I was in the middle of doing something else. All of them are excuses I invented to keep me from accomplishing what I set out to do. I don't know if the designers of the subjects in these images give much thought to the visual elegance of their creations. Nonetheless, so many of the things we use every day possess a beauty we miss in our daily lives. We think we know what we are looking at and move on. We miss a lot. A catalog of the show, and selected images are available for sale as prints. Click the "BUY A PICTURE" link below. This slideshow looks best when viewed on a computer rather than a cellphone. |
